SEIZURE CRYPT:
BIO
Formed from the tortured and insane mind
of Charnel House’s bassist/ heart and soul, Tom Reardon in Summer, 2004,
Seizure Crypt’s mission was to write furious speedcore spiced with a
double vocal attack, creating a truly devastating outfit. To have this
project come to fruition, Tom needed more than adept musicians; he
needed people brimming with desire and emblazoned with a shared vision
of how this brand of maniacal music should sound.
Tom looked no further than to a man regarded amongst the best the scene
has to offer, former Terminal Confusion skin basher Doug Williamson.
This notorious NYHC double-bass drumming machine’s vast experience
touring the Northeast club circuit fit well with Tom’s similar
encounters, and this duo quickly formed a pact and mapped out the
desired Seizure Crypt sound. With impending vision understood and
musical direction firmly established, the writing and rehearsing was
underway.
The pair locked themselves away in Doug’s “birthing room” in Breezy
Point, NY, a very snug and cramped makeshift rehearsal space transformed
from a one-room bungalow fortified only by soundproof flaps, and began
laying down songs on a Tascam Four-Track Recorder. The idea was to get
rough drafts ready to enable the recruitment of other members to the
fold. Frustratingly, musicians came and went, and without any success in
solidifying the lineup, Doug and Tom decided that since the CD was
already written, they’d jumpstart the band as a duo. Tom handled the
bass, guitar, and vocals, while Doug tackled drums, percussion, and
remaining bass parts. Seizure Crypt, while not a full-fledged unit, now
had a heartbeat.
That breath of life was accentuated by an old mate of Doug’s, former
Terminal Confusion guitar whiz Juan Rodriguez, whose engineering,
recording, and mixing acumen helped the band’s growth by leaps and
bounds. With Doug and Tom wanting an intentional live but totally raw
feel, Juan delivered the goods via the assistance of a DFX12 drum mixer
and a Roland Digital Eight-Track Board. It was all coming into place, as
recording commenced on Thanksgiving Night 2004 and lasted through May
2005. The issue of the second vocal position was still up for grabs.
However Tom, being the ever-resourceful local musician, combed the NYC
music scene and found Mike SOS. Miraculously finding a break in his
ever-pressingly hectic SOS and freelance music journalist schedule, Mike
enthusiastically agreed to join the fold. Tom and Mike’s vocals meshed
seamlessly, cementing the Seizure Crypt sound.

With the self-titled disc complete, the focus was put on comprising the
live unit. After a barrage of answered ads yielded nothing, Baltimore
native Ivan Serge snagged Seizure Crypt’s bass slot. Serge provides the
four-string presence that will undoubtedly add the necessary punch to
transcend the album’s visceral vibe to the stage. With unparalled
pedigree, endless work ethic, massive experience, and a diverse list of
performers that each member shared stages with across the years that
reads like a who’s who of metal, it’s a safe assumption that if you take
a listen to this CD, there’s bound to be something that will catch your
ear. From its humble beginnings to a realized situation, the Seizure
Crypt mission set forth by Tom and Doug has been accomplished and the
vision has been achieved. Bishop Nazz came into the fold on February
twenty fifth, 2006, thus completing Seizure Crypt's line up. Currently
we are looking for a bass guitarist. We are also seeking a
timpani player (kettle drum). |
